Adrian Newey: “In Formula 1 everything is governed by the rules, otherwise the cars would look different. They look like missiles and are very unsafe. And we would regularly see tire explosions – if we could develop as much downforce as possible, the rubber just wouldn’t withstand such a load.
It is possible that this generation of cars will remain the fastest for a while, as the 2026 rules, as they stand now, suggest that cars will become significantly slower.”
