Leclerc confused Perez with Verstappen during the race

During a race in Japan, Charles Leclerc confused Sergio Perez with Max Verstappen. When the Ferrari driver saw Perez stop, he decided it was his teammate, and until the last lap he believed he was in third place.

Charles Leclerc: “I didn’t follow what happened with Max Verstappen during the race because when I saw the Red Bull car crash I decided it was Max. Until the last lap I thought I would finish on the podium, but then I looked at the positions and realized I was fourth. However, we performed strongly.

On the one hand I’m happy with our progress, but on the other hand I’m not, because we weren’t as fast as McLaren. They were very fast and their car’s tires barely wore out. Suzuki’s first sector became our weak point. Compared to McLaren, we lost the most time on this part of the track.

Overall, we had another good weekend and confirmed what we discovered in previous races. The team will continue to work hard in the remaining races of the season to prepare as best as possible for next year.”
