Norris will compete in the Sonoma Racing Festival

McLaren will take part in the traditional Velocity Invitational car festival, which will be held at California’s Sonoma Raceway from November 10 to 12. a week before the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Lando Norris will represent the team there, along with Pato O’Ward, Alex Rossi and Tony Kanaan, who drive for Arrow McLaren in the IndyCar Series, and will be led by Zac Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing. But if Lando is going there for the first time, Brown will be participating in the festival for the fourth year in a row – he has been there before with the historic division of United Autosports.

“We are happy to participate in this year’s festival to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our racing team,” he emphasized. “The Velocity Invitational offers car enthusiasts a unique opportunity to experience first-hand what McLaren Racing is all about: speed, innovation and excellence.”

McLaren Racing also presented a full list of racing equipment that will be brought to Sonoma – the Woking-based team has never sent so many historic cars to this festival at once.

These include the MP4-23A-05, which Lewis Hamilton drove at the 2008 Brazilian Grand Prix, where he won his first title, and the MP4/14A-04, Mika Hakkinen’s 1999 championship car. There will also be an MP4 /6-10, Ayrton Senna’s car – the Brazilian drove it in 1990, Niki Lauda’s MP4/2A-01, ​​with which he became world champion for the third time in 1984, and the M23-5 from 1974. – Emerson Fittipaldi secured McLaren’s first World Championship victory, and the team went on to win the Constructors’ Championship for the first time.

And this is not an exhaustive list, as McLaren will be bringing to Sonoma not only historic Formula 1 cars from various years, but also sports prototypes once created for the Can-Am series.
