With six races remaining in the season, McLaren leads the Constructors’ Championship by 41 points over Red Bull Racing. Woking team boss Zak Brown has urged his staff not to treat it as a done deal.
Zac Brown: “We have to work gradually, race by race. Every time I discussed with Andrea Stella our goals for the upcoming Grand Prix, he never said: “We intend to win this race.” He works fairly conservatively, keeps both feet on the ground and continues to work.
At the start of the year I really believed that Max Verstappen would win all 24 races, but so far he has not won in eight races in a row. This shows how quickly things can change. There are still six stages to go and we shouldn’t get too comfortable.
We’re not worried about the remaining circuits, but we feel the usual pre-race weekend jitters keeping us on our toes. On some of the remaining songs we think we’ll look better than others. Because we have already won on all types of tracks, we have a lot of confidence in our car.”
