Leo Turini: Leclerc won in Michael Schumacher style

Leo Turini, a famous Italian journalist, is obviously delighted about his favorite team’s winning double and does not hold back his feelings when commenting on Ferrari’s performance yesterday. But he shares with the readers of his blog not only joyful experiences, but also very practical observations…

What are you talking about, which T-Tray? What is the match between Verstappen and Norris? To be honest, I don’t care about this.

Ferrari, Ferrari! – that’s what’s important. We witnessed a victorious double in America, which Enzo Ferrari loved so much, even though he had never been there.

Yesterday’s success brought to mind an old newspaper headline: “Beef, beef – the Reds are back!” I will add on my own behalf: finally!

First of all, we must immediately emphasize: this success is not accidental. On the contrary: it became a confirmation of the work that had been going on for some time. The Scuderia is still starting to deliver on its promises, although recently it has been unable to do so, and this has happened too often.

I didn’t even believe in it anymore. Let me explain in more detail.

Maranello announced in advance that they were preparing to significantly modernize the car at the end of the season. But it is not a fact that all new products will work with ideal efficiency. We remember many cases where well-publicized improvements had a boomerang effect after implementation.

However, we must pay tribute to Frederic Vasseur, the team leader, who outwardly resembles a village priest and with his whole appearance simply radiates good character.

In Texas, on one of the best circuits in the championship, Ferrari really dominated. Moreover, the team achieved success quietly, without even worrying, unlike Monaco or Monza.

This time Charles Leclerc won in the style of Michael Schumacher. He had a great start and immediately climbed from fourth to first place, after which he trusted the car, which worked perfectly, which is confirmed by Carlos Sainz’s second place. He also behaved impeccably – by the way, it’s time for Lewis Hamilton, who will take his place, to somehow cheer up!

I will never tire of repeating, as I have been doing for decades, that in motorsport a lot depends on the car, and in Austin we saw very important signals that give us hope for the future. Unfortunately, it is already too late to dream of a championship title, but thanks to the Scuderia’s winning double, he can be considered a contender for the Constructors’ Championship, and quite interesting scenarios are possible here.

The most important thing is this: Ferrari finally becomes the mistress of its own destiny and no longer depends on the random chance of external circumstances.

In Austin, the Reds set an example for everyone else, but that’s why it’s crucial to build on that success without delay. The busy season calendar contributes to this and you don’t have to wait long for the next race: the Grand Prix of Mexico City takes place on Sunday.

Another winning double is welcome. You can understand me, I waited too long.
