France won gold in the mixed 4x100m medley relay on Tuesday, August 11, through Mary-Ambre Moluh, Carl Aitkaci, Maxime Grousset and Marie Wattel at the 2026 European Swimming Championships in Saint-Denis. The French team finished in 3:39.64 to claim the country's first title of the event, ahead of the Netherlands in 3:40.92 and Russia in 3:41.52.
Relay leg breakdown
Mary-Ambre Moluh, 20, opened the race by setting a French record in the 100-meter backstroke, though competing against mostly male rivals left France several lengths behind. Carl Aitkaci closed the gap on the breaststroke leg before Maxime Grousset put France in the lead on the butterfly leg. Grousset had won silver in the 50-meter butterfly shortly before the relay.
The 29-year-old Marie Wattel completed the victory on the freestyle leg, finishing well ahead of her direct opponents.
French medal tally
The victory gave France its fourth medal of the competition as the second day ended. The gold followed a silver medal won the previous day in the men's 4x200-meter relay, led by Léon Marchand.
