Frankie Harris shot a 12-under 59 in the final round of the Korn Ferry Tour's Pinnacle Bank Championship before beating Alistair Docherty in a play-off to win the title.
The 23-year-old sank an 18-foot birdie putt on the last hole to complete the round. He carded eight-under 27 on the back nine at The Club at Indian Creek in Nebraska, with six birdies, an eagle and two pars, after a front nine of four birdies and five pars.
Harris and Docherty both finished at 22 under after the regulation 72 holes, sending the tournament to a play-off, which Harris won.
Joining an elite list
Harris became the ninth men's golfer worldwide to shoot a sub-60 round on the final day and go on to win the tournament. He joins Bryson DeChambeau, who closed with a 58 to win LIV Golf Greenbrier in 2023, and Jim Furyk, who shot 58 in the final round of the 2016 Travelers Championship.
'Never crossed my mind'
Harris said afterwards: "The thought of a 59 never even crossed my mind. Honestly, like 100 per cent. I did not know I shot a 59 when I made that putt on 18."
"I knew I was playing well, but I was just trying to keep the pedal on the gas and finish strong," he said.
He said he had planned to celebrate straight away. "I was ready to crack my first beer once I finished the round, but then my caddie and I made a smart choice not do that because Alistair came in real hot. I knew it was going to come down to a play-off, so figured it was my time."
Where it leaves Harris
The win moves Harris to No 29 on the Korn Ferry Tour points list. The top 20 on the list at the end of the season earn PGA Tour cards for 2027.
