Greek rowers Giorgos Chiotis and Apostolos Stavros Alexiou secured second place and the silver medal at the World Junior Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
The 18-year-old athletes delivered a strong performance, crossing the finish line in 6:34.07. They finished just 0.61 seconds behind Romania, who took the gold medal with a time of 6:33.46. Upon crossing the line and realizing their achievement, the pair broke into wild celebrations.
Previous championship success
The result marks another major distinction for the duo. The two 18-year-old rowers previously won the bronze medal at the corresponding European Championship last May.
