Iga Świątek beat Marta Kostiuk 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 on Saturday to reach the quarterfinal of the WTA tournament in Toronto, where she will face Diana Shnaider.

Świątek lost the first set 3-6. Sport.pl journalist Aleksander Bernard wrote in his post-match report that the numbers after the first set were striking, with Świątek winning only 9 percent of points on her first serve, or just one point out of eleven exchanges.

Świątek turns match around

Świątek played with far more confidence in the second and third sets, winning them 6-1 and 6-2 to seal her spot in the quarterfinal. It is her best tournament result since May, when she reached the semifinal in Rome.

After the match, Świątek posted on Instagram to celebrate the win, writing that it felt good to play her own game again and that she was ready for more.

Cox sends congratulations

Among the many congratulatory comments was one from Courteney Cox, known for playing Monica Geller in "Friends" and one of Świątek's best-known fans. Cox wrote that Iga had done very well.

Świątek has previously said she knows Cox and that they had dinner together in Paris, calling her an amazing person and saying she loves "Friends." The two have even played tennis together on court.

Świątek is now preparing to face Shnaider in the Toronto quarterfinal on Monday, August 10.
