Inter Milan have offered £25 million for Tottenham full back Djed Spence as the Italian champions step up their pursuit of the England defender. Daily Mail Sport first reported that Inter made contact in June, and the side are now trying to work out a compromise fee.

The £25 million bid is £5 million more than the original package given to Middlesbrough when Tottenham signed Spence in 2022. Tottenham were originally looking for closer to £36 million for Spence, who signed a new four-year contract in north London at the start of last season.

Spence role at Tottenham

Spence has fallen further down the pecking order at Spurs following Andy Robertson's arrival from Liverpool. Roberto De Zerbi is expected to favor Destiny Udogie and Pedro Porro as his preferred full backs this season, though Spence can play on either side and took many of his Spurs and England minutes at left back despite naturally being right-sided.

Spence is believed to be keen on joining Inter to secure more playing time after his stock rose at the World Cup, where he started four games for England including the semi-final against Argentina. Although he could still remain in north London, he would not be first choice, and Tottenham could be equally keen to cash in while his value is potentially at its highest.
