Lada GM Alexander Chebotarev said the club will strengthen their roster if they play in the KHL next season.
“The team will certainly look different, because we will be recruiting players of KHL caliber. To fully staff the team with KHL-level players, you need to be active in that transfer market. In the VHL, assembling a team in terms of player recruitment is generally unrealistic. I think it will take more than one season. But that is fine: Lada has seen worse times,” Chebotarev told Championship.
Togliatti’s Lada announced in November 2022 that they had filed an official application for inclusion in the KHL. Lada previously played in the KHL in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, and again from the 2014/15 season through the 2017/18 season.
