Travis Kelce has become the target of good-natured ridicule at Kansas City Chiefs training camp, with fans joking that his new wife Taylor Swift has been feeding him well since their Madison Square Garden wedding last month.

The 36-year-old tight end returned from summer break looking, in the words commonly used by athletic trainers, a bit “fluffy.” Fans on X were quick to note his slightly expanded midsection, with one writing that Kelce is “rocking that ‘dad bod’ in the first few days of KC training camp.” Another quipped “Dad bod immediately after getting married” before adding that it made Kelce one of them. A third observer offered perhaps the sharpest jab, saying Kelce looked like he was on his “second marriage with four kids.”

Head coach Andy Reid was not critical. He joked instead that the future Hall of Famer had stayed in shape by doing “a lot of dancing at his wedding.” Kelce has a history of arriving at camp with extra pounds before shedding them during the season.

More serious issues off the field

The lighthearted moment comes as the Chiefs deal with a far graver situation. Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy remains away from the team following the shooting of his wife, Mia, by the couple’s son, 27-year-old Elijah Zion Bieniemy, who faces a malicious-wounding charge. Mia Bieniemy was released from intensive care and is recovering. Elijah has a motion hearing scheduled for Thursday, with preliminary hearings set to begin August 31.

At camp on Saturday, receivers Xavier Worthy and rookie Cyrus Allen both left with minor injuries. Allen suffered a shin problem after a collision during a special teams drill, while Worthy aggravated a shoulder he originally hurt in a 2025 game. Neither is expected to miss significant time.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes provided encouraging news, saying he feels stronger than ever following knee surgery and is focused on improving his pocket movement and decision-making heading into the season.
