Mileta Rajovic scored a penalty and provided an assist as FC Midtjylland thrashed fourth-tier Sundby 7-0 in the Danish Cup on Thursday, September 10.
The Danish forward, who joined Midtjylland on loan from Polish side Legia Warsaw, was named in the starting lineup for the cup tie. FC Midtjylland entered the match as overwhelming favourites against hosts Sundby, a club competing on the fourth level of Denmark's football league pyramid. Rajovic helped seal a dominant first half performance in the 42nd minute by setting up his side's third goal. Shortly afterwards, still before the half-time break, he converted a penalty kick to score Midtjylland's fifth goal of the afternoon.
Rajovic was substituted shortly after the hour mark, leaving the pitch after just over 60 minutes of action. His teammates added two further goals during the second half, sealing a comprehensive 7-0 victory and securing effortless qualification for the next round of the Danish Cup.
Bright Start for Midtjylland
The cup victory continued an impressive start for Rajovic in Midtjylland colours. Only a few days earlier, he made his club debut in the Danish league, where he registered a crucial assist that secured a draw for his new team. That result preserved Midtjylland's record as the only remaining undefeated side in the Danish top flight.
Midtjylland currently occupy second place in the Danish Superliga table. The team will return to league action on Monday, September 14, when they take on fifth-placed Broendby, offering Rajovic another chance to expand his goalscoring tally for the Danish club.
Struggle at Legia Warsaw
The loan move offers Rajovic an opportunity to rebuild his form following a challenging spell in Polish football with Legia Warsaw. Legia, a prominent club based in the Polish capital that competes in the top-tier Ekstraklasa, invested three million euros to sign the forward. However, he struggled to establish himself as a regular scorer in Poland, recording only 10 goals across 50 appearances for the club.
