Olympiacos have removed Francisco Ortega from their European squad list, a sign that the Argentine left back is close to a return to his home country with River Plate.
The 27-year-old is expected to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract, with River Plate paying Olympiacos a fee of around 5 million euros, roughly what the Greek club paid to sign him plus a little more.
Ortega's place on Olympiacos's European list will be taken by his namesake, goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.
