On Saturday, three duets showed a short dance: Ekaterina Mironova and Evgeny Ustenko, Maria Nekhaeva and Fedor Sanin, as well as representatives of the Moscow team Vasilisa Kaganovskaya and Valery Angelopol, who participated out of competition. According to the results of the first day of the tournament, Mironova and Ustenko took first place. However, for the free dance, they were the only participants: their classmates withdrew from the competition.

– Maria, Fedor and I initially planned to skate only one program. These guys only came to my band at the end of October, we performed for them. They managed to pull off a short dance, although it was still far from perfect. And they didn’t have time to finalize the free program to the point of presenting it to the public. Therefore, the championship organizers and the federation knew in advance that my students would show only one program, Sokolova told .
