The first of its kind Ukraine Open tournament was hosted by Innsbruck, Austria
The first ever event took place in Innsbruck, Austria. Ukrainian Open Skeleton Championship — Ukraine Open.
As part of the tournament, two sets of medals were played – in men’s and women’s starts. A mandatory condition was the participation in each discipline of representatives of at least two countries – members of the IBSF (International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation). The strongest Ukrainian biathlete Vladislav Geraskevich became the winner of the men’s competition. The recent World Cup debutant Yaroslav Lavrenyuk lost to him by almost three seconds. This was enough for third place, and Romanian Luca Ungureano became the silver medalist.
In the women’s competitions, the entire podium was occupied by German juniors. Marie Angerer won gold, and other medals went to Maria Fotz and Charlize Reimann.
