— CAS has rejected Canada’s appeal against the distribution of bronze medals in the team figure skating tournament at the 2022 Olympic Games. Will Russian figure skaters be invited to present awards at the Paris Olympics?
“The IOC has taken note of the CAS decision and will respect this decision,” the IOC press service told .
Earlier, the International Skating Union (ISU) redistributed the medals for the 2022 team tournament after Russia’s Kamila Valieva was disqualified for an anti-doping rule violation. In January, the ISU annulled Valieva’s results and moved the Russian team from first to third place. The U.S. team took first place and Japan took second. Team Canada, which placed fourth, also claimed third place by filing an appeal with CAS against the ISU decision.
The awards ceremony for the gold and silver medalists of the team tournament will take place on August 7 in Paris, where the Summer Olympics are taking place.
