Former Liverpool midfielder Ovie Ejaria has posted an appeal on networking site LinkedIn to find a new club after becoming a free agent this summer.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who is currently based in London, shared match footage of his performances for Spanish club Real Oviedo against Atletico Madrid last season as he asked potential employers to contact him directly.
Ejaria posted on the professional social media platform on Tuesday to outline his preferred playing positions and availability following the expiration of his contract in Spain.
"I'm currently a free agent and looking for the right opportunity," Ejaria wrote on LinkedIn. "Was playing for Real Oviedo in LaLiga last season. Primary Position- Central Midfield (6, 8 & 10). Secondary position - Left winger. 28 years old, London-based. Played for Liverpool, Sunderland, Rangers, Reading & Real Oviedo"
"I'm keeping the details brief for now, but if there's an opportunity or you know of a club looking for midfielder - (6, 8 & 10) or someone who can play as a left winger, please feel free to DM me. All enquiries welcome," he added.
Spell in Spanish Football with Real Oviedo
The former England youth international joined Real Oviedo last year following the Asturian club's promotion to LaLiga, the top tier of Spanish football.
Ejaria made eight appearances in LaLiga for Real Oviedo during the campaign as the team struggled to maintain their top-flight status.
Real Oviedo finished rock bottom of the LaLiga table on 29 points after winning just six matches in total across the season, resulting in their relegation to Spain's second tier.
Ejaria's contract expired at the end of the season following the team's relegation, leaving the midfielder without a club and seeking a new opportunity ahead of the new campaign.
Liverpool Breakthrough and Jurgen Klopp Praise
Ejaria began his youth development with London club Arsenal before moving to Liverpool's academy in 2014. He progressed through the youth ranks at Anfield to earn a place in the senior squad.
He made his senior debut for Liverpool in September 2016, coming on as a substitute for Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino during a 3-0 victory over Derby County in the Carabao Cup, just weeks before his 19th birthday.
During his initial time with the senior team, Ejaria made a strong impression on former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who praised the young midfielder's attitude and technical ability.
"I told the boys before the session that last year, Ovie Ejaria came onto my plate, if you want," Klopp said at the time. "I saw him here first. I knew him, I saw him playing a few times, but here having him around for four days and seeing him in small spaces in the sessions against the 'adults', if you want, was very important for him and for me."
"It's an opportunity. You can see in their eyes they know it - they are really ambitious when they think about the sessions and we will try to do everything we can to give them the opportunity to impress," Klopp added. "There's no doubt about the attitude, there's no doubt about quality - it's only a question of are they already ready or not? If not, then they still have time. If yes, then let's make the next step."
Career Path Through Loans and Reading Transfer
Ejaria made eight senior appearances in total during his four-year spell as a Liverpool player, which also included multiple loan spells to gain first-team experience.
He completed temporary moves to English side Sunderland, Scottish Premiership club Rangers, and Championship side Reading while under contract at Anfield.
In 2020, Ejaria departed Liverpool permanently to join Reading, bringing an end to his four-year period on the books at Anfield.
He remained with Reading for four years before his spell with the Berkshire club concluded in 2024, paving the way for his move to Real Oviedo prior to his current free agency.
