Newly released bodycam footage shows a police officer aiming a Taser at WNBA star Paige Bueckers as officers arrested her Dallas Wings teammate Arike Ogunbowale outside a Miami nightclub.
The incident occurred at 4:20am on March 5 outside E11EVEN, a 24-hour ultraclub in downtown Miami. The WNBA players and their group were out celebrating their championship victory in Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 women's basketball league, when an altercation inside the club led to them being escorted out by security.
According to police, an alleged victim claimed he was trying to escort Ogunbowale away from the club following an unrelated altercation when she punched him in the face with a closed fist and knocked him to the ground. Officers stated in an incident report that they later watched CCTV footage of the altercation, which matched the alleged victim's claims.

The bodycam video shows officers attempting to place Ogunbowale in handcuffs after she was identified by the victim as the assailant. As officers moved in, Bueckers and other people in their group quickly gathered around and begged the officer to let her go.
Bueckers can be seen with her arm around Ogunbowale, telling the officer a number of times, "We got her." As the crowd grew larger, the officer pulled out his Taser, aimed it directly at Bueckers, and demanded that she let Ogunbowale go and give him space.
The crowd surrounding the officer included Unrivaled host Maria Clifton, Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young, and Chicago Sky forward DiJonai Carrington. As the officer placed Ogunbowale in handcuffs, Clifton could be heard demanding, "Stop it. Do not put handcuffs on her. Are you f***ing kidding me? She's a champion."
Ogunbowale was led to a police car, put in the back, and transferred to a nearby jail, where she was booked on one misdemeanor count of battery.
Dismissal of Misdemeanor Battery Charges
However, court records show that the misdemeanor battery charge against Ogunbowale was dropped in May.
"We are pleased that the State Attorney's Office has exercised its discretion and elected not to move forward with this matter," Ogunbowale's attorney, Mitch Schuster, said to ESPN at the time. "Ms. Ogunbowale is a person of outstanding character, and we are excited that these charges have been dismissed so she can resume her focus on her professional career."
WNBA Stars and Unrivaled League Background
Ogunbowale is one of the highest-paid players in the WNBA, earning a salary of just under $1.2 million in 2026. A four-time WNBA All-Star who has played in the league since 2020, she starred at the University of Notre Dame before turning professional, notably hitting back-to-back game-winning shots to secure the 2018 NCAA national championship.
Bueckers is Wings teammates with Ogunbowale after being selected as the No. 1 overall pick out of UConn in the 2025 WNBA Draft. During her collegiate career at the University of Connecticut under head coach Geno Auriemma, Bueckers became the first freshman in women's college basketball history to win consensus National Player of the Year honors.
The players were celebrating their title in Unrivaled, a professional 3-on-3 women's basketball league co-founded by WNBA superstars Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier. Designed to give players top-tier domestic competition during the WNBA offseason, the inaugural season brought together high-profile league talent including Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young, an Olympic gold medalist, and Chicago Sky forward DiJonai Carrington.
