Panathinaikos midfielder Pavlos Pantelidis underwent successful surgery in the early hours of the morning to repair serious ankle injuries sustained during a preseason friendly against Athens Kallithea in Koropi.
Examinations on Friday confirmed a comminuted fibula fracture, a rupture of the inferior tibiofibular syndesmosis, and a rupture of the deltoid ligament, with no fracture to the tibia. The injuries resulted from a heavy challenge near the corner flag.
The operation was performed by Panathinaikos head medical officer Dionysis Hissas alongside team doctor Haris Lalos, completing just after 1:30 a.m.
Recovery is estimated at four to six months, with the target being a return to competitive action in early 2027. The club’s entire organisation expressed its support and wished Pantelidis a speedy return.
