PAOK’s Meïté to Have Hip Surgery, Out Until November

PAOK midfielder Soualio Meïté will undergo surgery on his hip after conservative treatment failed to clear up the injury that has troubled him since the start of the year, the Greek club has confirmed.

The hip problem effectively kept the French player out of the squad for the final stretch of last season. Hopes that Meïté could gradually work his way back into training were not realised when the conservative course of treatment produced no improvement.

In consultation with PAOK’s medical staff, the tall midfielder agreed to proceed with surgery without delay.

The operation means coach Alessio Lisci will not be able to call on Meïté until early November at the earliest.
