Defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot of Team Visma-Lease a Bike Women abandoned the Tour de France Femmes on Saturday, August 8, before the start of the eighth stage. The 34-year-old French rider withdrew prior to the penultimate stage between Sisteron and Nice after a medical consultation. Her team announced on its X account that she did not feel well on Saturday morning and wished her a prompt recovery.
Overall race standings
Ferrand-Prévot, who won the Paris 2024 Olympic mountain bike cross-country title, will follow the remainder of the event with her team. She had been seeking a second consecutive title after winning the race last year, but held 18th place in the general classification following the seventh stage.
Poland's Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney leads the overall standings heading into the final day. Cédrine Kerbaol of team EF Education - Oatly sits in seventh place as the top French rider. The Tour de France Femmes concludes on Sunday in the streets of Nice.
