The Polish women's volleyball team began their final preparations for the European Championship with a 3:0 victory over Ukraine at the Agata Mróz-Olszewska Memorial.
Stefano Lavarini's team, looking to bounce back from a disappointing Nations League campaign where they also beat Ukraine 3:1, won the friendly match 25:17, 25:19, 25:20.
Opening set comebacks
Ukraine started the first set strongly, taking a 5:2 lead. Poland quickly equalised at 6:6 and pulled ahead. From a 12:12 tie, Poland won six consecutive points to build an 18:12 advantage, taking another late run to lead 24:16 before winning the set 25:17.
The second set began similarly, with Ukraine going 3:0 up before Poland tied it at 4:4. After Ukraine recovered from an 11:8 deficit to tie the game at 14:14, Poland won six of the next seven points to lead 20:15, securing the set 25:19.
Poland took early control of the third set with a 3:0 lead, but Ukraine fought back from 7:4 down to tie it at 8:8. Ukraine then built a 14:11 advantage before Poland rallied to win the set 25:20 and seal the match.
Poland will face France on Wednesday, August 12 at 20:30, followed by a match against Italy on Thursday, August 13 at 18:00.
