Zuzanna Górecka, who is not part of the Polish national volleyball team, has a new club. The outside hitter has moved to Nilüfer Belediyespor in Turkey's top flight after one season with Ilbank Ankara.
Górecka left Poland last summer for Ilbank Ankara, where the team struggled through the regular season, finishing with a 6-20 record for 19 points and 12th place in the table, the last position that avoided the drop. Despite the team's poor results, her individual performances stood out, which led to the move.
A transfer confirmed without an announcement
Reports that Górecka would join Nilüfer Belediyespor first surfaced several months ago. They were confirmed by photos from her preseason medical examination, published on the club's official Instagram account.
Neither that Instagram account nor Nilüfer's official website has posted an announcement of the transfer itself. Górecka has already begun training with the team for the coming season, however, meaning she can be considered fully part of the squad.
Nilüfer's recent season
Her new club finished sixth in last season's regular phase, with a 14-12 record for 41 points. In the playoffs for places five to eight, Nilüfer first lost to Aras Kargo 1-3 and 0-3, then beat THY 3-2 in both legs, finishing seventh overall in the Sultanlar Ligi. In the Turkish Cup, the Bursa-based club did not advance from its group, beating THY 3-0 but losing 2-3 to Aras Kargo, finishing behind them in the group standings.
Górecka's numbers and career path
Górecka ended her last season with Ilbank once the regular phase finished. Across 26 matches she scored 336 points in total: 286 from attack at 36.9 percent efficiency, 29 from blocks and 21 from serve. She also recorded a 19 percent perfect reception rate, on 93 of 501 attempts.
Before joining Ilbank Ankara, she played for ŁKS Łódź (2022-2025), Budowlani Łódź (2020-2022), Igor Gorgonzola Novara (2019-20) and Legionovia Legionowo (2018-19). Her debut for Nilüfer Belediyespor could come in a few weeks, with the Turkish league season starting in early October.
