Kristian Prenga has hit back at Simon Jordan after the pundit questioned the legitimacy of his heavyweight bout with Anthony Joshua.
Joshua stopped Prenga in the second round of their fight on Saturday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, despite being knocked down twice himself in the first round.
Prenga appeared to be heading for a shock win after dropping Joshua twice in the opening round. But Joshua recovered from the wobble to send Prenga to the canvas, prompting the referee to wave off the contest.
The turnaround prompted Simon Jordan to question what he had seen. Posting on X, Jordan wrote that Prenga was dropped twice and set the tempo, then asked how Prenga could be totally different in the second round, adding that something was not quite right and suggesting it was all designed to rinse the maximum amount of money.
Prenga responds to Jordan
Speaking to SveaCasino, Prenga dismissed Jordan's comments as completely false and irresponsible for anyone to suggest. He said he and Joshua have integrity and would never engage in that kind of stupidity.
Prenga explained that he had felt he needed to preserve energy and catch his breath, so he chose to start slow and replenish his energy. He said that unfortunately, the slower pace did not work out and allowed Joshua to flip control of the fight to him.
Looking ahead to Joshua vs Fury
Joshua is now set to fight long-term rival Tyson Fury in a long-awaited British heavyweight showdown at the back end of this year.
Prenga predicted Joshua would give Fury the same ending he handed him at the weekend. He said it is tough to predict the fight since both men are tough and good fighters, but that he believes Joshua knocks Fury out.
Prenga also said he would fight Fury any day, adding that Fury ran his mouth before the Prenga fight and that he would welcome showing him his Albanian power in the ring whenever Fury is ready.
