Ruoning Yin produced a final-hole chip-in at TPC Boston to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the LPGA Tour FM Championship in Massachusetts.
The five-time LPGA Tour winner holed out from just off the 18th green to complete a four-under-par round of 68 and move to 12 under par overall. Yin had earlier sank a 20-foot birdie putt on the par-three 16th hole to keep herself at the top of the leaderboard in Boston.
Yin holds a slender one-stroke cushion over South Korean duo Sei Young Kim and Hyo Joo Kim. Somi Lee of South Korea lies three strokes further back at eight under par, tied for fourth place alongside American golfer Jenny Bae.
"I think my swing is in a good spot, my putting and every part of my game I think are pretty good," Yin said. "I'm just going to play my game. I'm not going to play safe when it's time to go aggressive."
The LPGA Tour is the world's premier professional golf circuit for women, showcasing elite international competition. TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, serves as the host venue for the inaugural FM Championship, featuring a challenging championship course layout.
Solheim Cup contenders in Boston
This week's tournament is the last LPGA Tour event before Team Europe look to regain the Solheim Cup against Team USA. The biennial team match-play competition will be broadcast live on Sky Sports from September 11 to 13.
Team USA trio Lauren Coughlin, Allisen Corpuz and Lindy Duncan are all heading into the final day at seven under par. European title hopes faded in Boston as several key European contenders fell back during Saturday's third round.
Halfway co-leader Miyu Yamashita dropped six strokes off the pace after carding a third-round 75. The Japanese player had arrived in Massachusetts following a dominant nine-stroke victory in Canada on the previous Sunday.
Lottie Woad, the highest-ranked Englishwoman in the field, stands on five under par following a 70. Woad will make her Solheim Cup debut for Team Europe next month.
Top-ranked player Nelly Korda is tied for 49th place after recording her third consecutive round of 72, leaving her one shot behind England's Charley Hull. European captain Anna Nordqvist sits on one over par in her final tournament appearance before her retirement from the LPGA Tour.
Casandra Alexander leads Women's Irish Open
In Ireland, Casandra Alexander will take a three-shot lead into the final round of the KPMG Women's Irish Open at The K Club. Leona Maguire also produced a notable performance on home soil to move up the standings.
Alexander posted a three-under-par 69 on another rainy day at The K Club, where play was halted for 45 minutes due to adverse weather. The South African moved to 18 under par overall, putting her one step closer to securing a wire-to-wire victory.
Ranked 38th in the world, Alexander has collected five runner-up finishes this season. She is chasing her second career title on the Ladies European Tour, looking for her first win since last year's Tipsport Czech Ladies Open.
Czech golfer Sara Kouskova stands as Alexander's closest challenger after recording a bogey-free round of 67 to reach 15 under par.
"It was a bit of a slow day out there," Alexander said. "It was tough on and off the golf course with the rain. I had a couple lip-outs, but it was still good. I'm still leading the golf tournament heading into Sunday, so no complaints."
Leona Maguire charges on home soil
Sweden's Kajsa Arwefjall matched the low round of the week by shooting a nine-under-par 63. The performance lifted Arwefjall to fourth place on 13 under par, ahead of Swedish compatriots Corinne Viden and Louise Rydqvist.
Ireland's Leona Maguire matched Arwefjall's 63 to jump into a share of sixth place at The K Club. A wire-to-wire win describes a tournament victory where a golfer holds the lead at the end of every round, while moving day refers to the penultimate round when players position themselves for the final push.
"I knew there was a low one out there," Maguire said. "I didn't really play it that much better today than I did yesterday, I just holed a few more putts and hit it a smidge closer. I still felt like I left a couple out there but it was a nice moving day."
The Ladies European Tour is Europe's elite women's golf circuit, with The K Club in County Kildare hosting the Irish Open. The final rounds of both the KPMG Women's Irish Open and the LPGA Tour FM Championship will air live on Sunday on Sky Sports, with contract-free streaming available via NOW.
