Juventus suffered their first defeat of the Serie A season on Sunday, losing 3-2 away to Sassuolo in matchday four of Italy's top flight. Vasilije Adzic settled the contest with a goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time, punishing his former club.
Edon Zhegrova had scored both of Juventus's goals, including an equaliser in the first minute of added time, but the visitors could not hold on. Adzic struck moments later to hand Sassuolo all three points and end Juventus's unbeaten start to the campaign.
How the goals went in
Sassuolo broke the deadlock through Francesco Esposito in the 65th minute. Zhegrova equalised for Juventus in the 82nd minute, but Sassuolo's Baoui restored the home side's lead in the 89th minute. Zhegrova levelled again in the first minute of stoppage time, only for Adzic to score the winner three minutes later, in the 90+4th minute.
Juventus's unbeaten run ends
The defeat was Juventus's first of the season after three unbeaten matches. Before kickoff at Sassuolo, the Turin club sat on seven points from three games. Sassuolo, who had picked up just four points from three matches before the win, saw Adzic haunt the team he left.
Other results from matchday four
Fiorentina thrashed Venezia 4-2 away from home. Adams and Hainaut scored for Venezia in the 22nd and 86th minutes, while Mastantuono scored three times for Fiorentina, in the 29th, 30th and 84th minutes, with Pellegrino adding another in the 66th minute.
Genoa and Frosinone drew 1-1, with Kvernadze giving Frosinone the lead in the 14th minute before Vasquez levelled for Genoa in the 50th.
Lazio and Milan shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Cancellieri and Noslin scored for Lazio in the 10th and 37th minutes, but Moreira scored twice for Milan, in the 65th and 67th minutes, to level the match.
Cagliari beat Atalanta 2-1. Mendy put Cagliari ahead in the 19th minute, Scamacca equalised for Atalanta in the 41st, and Maldini scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 61st minute.
Lecce beat Monza 3-2. Coulibaly scored twice for Lecce, in the third and 21st minutes, either side of Thiago Gabriel's goal in the 10th minute, while Mangas and Sebayos scored for Monza in the 20th and 89th minutes.
Napoli beat Bologna 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Lobotka in the 66th minute.
Fixtures still to be played
Three matchday four fixtures were still to be played on September 14: Como against Parma, Torino against Roma, and Inter Milan against Udinese.
Serie A standings after four rounds
Lazio led the table with 10 points from four matches. Roma, Inter Milan and Cagliari followed with nine points each, with Roma and Inter having played three games. Milan were fifth on eight points, ahead of Como and Juventus, who both had seven points from three matches, and Frosinone, also on seven points.
Napoli, Atalanta and Lecce had six points each. Udinese and Sassuolo had four points from three games apiece, while Torino had three points from three matches and Fiorentina three points from four. Parma, Bologna, Monza and Genoa each had one point, with Parma's tally coming from three games. Venezia were bottom of the table without a point.
