Team Europe moved into a 7-5 lead over Team USA at the 2026 Solheim Cup after winning three of the four points on offer in Saturday morning's foursomes at Bernardus Golf, despite a heavy defeat for Charley Hull and Lottie Woad.
Maja Stark and Linn Grant got the hosts off to a flying start by beating Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz 3&2, ending a five-match winning streak for the American pair, who had previously held a 100-per-cent career record together in foursomes.
Both sessions of the opening two days at Bernardus Golf finished level, only the second time that has happened at a Solheim Cup, but Europe's three points from four on Saturday morning gave the home side the advantage heading into the afternoon fourballs.
Korda and Corpuz's run ends
Anna Nordqvist's all-Swedish pairing of Stark and Grant won the first hole and matched the Americans' birdie at the second before losing the third to another birdie. They responded by winning the next hole and never lost control from there.
Stark and Grant won the seventh with a birdie, then Stark chipped in for eagle from just off the drivable par-four eighth. A par at the ninth made it three straight holes won and sent them four ahead at the turn.
Korda and Corpuz threatened a comeback by winning back-to-back holes from the 10th to halve the deficit, but Stark holed an eight-foot birdie putt at the 16th to close out the win and end the Americans' perfect foursomes record.
"It's the best feeling ever," Stark said. "It felt like we put up some really decent golf both today and yesterday - it's hard to beat when you're not making any bogeys."
Hull and Woad suffer heavy loss
Hull and Woad, kept together by Nordqvist despite taking only half a point from two matches on Friday, fell behind when Alison Lee and Lauren Coughlin won four holes in a row from the fourth.
Woad made a close-range birdie to match their opponents at the eighth, but Lee and Coughlin opened the back nine with back-to-back birdies and closed out the match with a par at the 13th for a 6&5 win, the joint-largest winning margin in Solheim Cup foursomes history.
The result gave Lee her third win in as many sessions. "I feel like we both just hit it so solid," she said. "Today, I feel like all I had to do was just sit back and watch the Lauren [Coughlin] show. She hit some incredible shots into the green and made some incredible putts."
Rookies Rhodes and Nadaud impress again
Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud beat Andrea Lee and Austom Kim 4&3, never trailing in the match. It made them the first rookie pairing to win two matches together at a single Solheim Cup, and the largest winning margin by a debutant pairing in a foursomes match.
"I have to say we didn't really expect to play this morning," Nadaud admitted. "It was a great surprise yesterday. We played very sensible - had loads of fairways and greens and gave ourselves opportunities."
Maguire and Henseleit snatch final-hole win
The final match, against Kupcho and Zhang, swung several times. The Americans moved two up after six holes, with Esther Henseleit missing three putts from inside five feet, before Leona Maguire and Henseleit won three of the first four holes on the back nine to get back in front.
Team USA won consecutive holes from the 14th, and Maguire levelled the match at the 16th. Europe then claimed victory at the last when Zhang's approach hit the lip of a bunker and she made a closing bogey.
"I think we knew we weren't doing a whole lot wrong," Maguire said. "We got off to a really nice start just like we did yesterday and they came back at us with a birdie on three. We just had to stay patient and keep giving ourselves chances. Ten, 11, 12 were key turning holes for that."
