Spain will be represented in all six equestrian disciplines at the FEI World Championships in Aachen, Germany, from August 11 to August 23.
Twenty years after the last World Championships held in Aachen, the equestrian world returns to the German city for two weeks of competition. Dressage, Eventing, and Vaulting will take place during the first week, while Show Jumping, Para Dressage, and Driving will occupy the second week. Spain enters teams in Dressage, Show Jumping, Para Dressage, and Driving, alongside individual competitors in Eventing and Vaulting.
Dressage runs from August 11 to 15. Spain will be represented by Borja Carrascosa Martínez riding Frizzantino FRH, Lucía Gallardo Muñoz riding Hip By Johnson, José Antonio García Mena riding Gladiador Do Lis, and Severo Jurado López riding Flaconi W. The Grand Prix will decide team classification and act as the first individual test before the Special Grand Prix and the Kür, which will bring together the top pairs of the championship.
Eventing and vaulting competitions
Eventing will be held from August 13 to 16. Esteban Benítez Valle will compete for Spain in Aachen with Utrera AA 35 1. The competition consists of dressage, cross-country, and jumping.
Spanish representation in Vaulting also takes place between August 13 and 16. Maia Weibel Sorinas will compete as the national representative in individual competition with Lorenzo du Hans, with Vegas de la Vallée listed as the reserve horse.
Show jumping team selection
Show Jumping takes place from August 19 to 23 with a change to the Spanish team. Pilar Cordón, who was selected with Pica Pica Z, will not compete following a fall in Gijón. Iván Serrano will take her place riding Rain Man.
The Spanish show jumping team consists of Julio Arias Cueva riding Filou du Manoir, Alberto Márquez Galobardes riding Kelly, Imma Roquet Autonell riding Irivola del Maset, Armando Trapote riding Tornado VS, and Iván Serrano riding Rain Man.
Para dressage and driving events
Spain will also compete with a team in Para Dressage from August 19 to 23. The selection features Félix Gómez González riding Merlín in Grade II, Carmen López García riding Bribón de Ymas in Grade III, Iker Beitia Astondoa riding Belizzo in Grade IV, and Carla Onrubia Román riding Valerio, also in Grade IV.
Spanish representation concludes with Driving from August 20 to 23 in the four-in-hand category. Spain will present a team of drivers with José Ignacio Solana Martí and Antonio Pérez Pedrajas.
Solana will compete with five horses: Connery V.S., Dagobert, Dzango, Fuerst, and Terremoto XXI. Pérez Pedrajas will compete with Entertainer BB, Nooit Gedacht T, Girasol, Kenzo, and O Lero de Ville. Each driver will compete with four horses and keep a fifth in reserve. The Driving competition consists of dressage, marathon, and obstacle driving, with Spanish drivers competing for team classification and on an individual level.
