The Ukrainian won the first set against the sixth racket of the world, but could not get the final victory in the match
Ukrainian tennis player Yulia Starodubtseva lost to an American Coco Gauff in the quarter finals of the tournament WTA 1000 V Beijing.
The match lasted 1 hour and 53 minutes. The Ukrainian played the first set flawlessly – she managed to break three times, winning with a score of 6:2.
Starting from the second game, Gauff managed to seize the initiative and completely turn the game around. Starodubtseva had break points, but she was unable to convert them. Ms. Gauff herself took two games on the Ukrainian’s serve and won 6:2.
The scenario of the third set was completely reminiscent of the second. Once again, Starodubtseva was never able to make a break, which her opponent managed to do twice. As a result, Yulia lost 2:6, but still gave a real fight to the sixth racket of the world, who has a victory at the US Open 2023 behind her.
Let us remind you that Starodubtseva made it into the main draw of the WTA 1000 tournament for the first time in her career, having successfully qualified. In the first round, Julia defeated the German Laura Siegemund. Next, the Ukrainian passed Katerina Sinyakova, in the third round Elina Avanesyan was defeated, in the fourth – Anna Kalinskaya.
Thanks to her successful performances at the tournament in Beijing, Yulia has already secured her debut in the top 100 of the WTA rankings.
