Garin will face a top 30 and Tabilo manages to enter qualifying: the panorama of the Chileans at the Masters 1000 in Madrid

The Magic Box will receive this week the best tennis players in the world, in a tournament where the nationals already know their rivals. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will also be present.

Madrid are preparing for a special week. A week in which the best tennis players in the world travel to the Spanish capital to compete in the fourth Masters 1000 of the season and the second on brick dust. An event where Christian Garin (30th) and Alejandro Tabilo (91st) meet their rivals.

The northerner will play the first round of the main draw against the American Frances Tiafoe (29th) . For his part, the Chilean-Canadian entered as a substitute for the qualifier and will have to face Marcos Giron (53rd) .

In Garin’s case, this will be his first time facing the Maryland native, in what will no doubt be a high-impact match. The American has always been one of the great promises of North American tennis and lately he has been much more solid and consistent than usual. In reality is currently in the quarter-finals of the Estoril Open .

But the Chilean cannot let himself be defeated in the Caja Mágica and this week he will have to defend the quarter-finals (180 points) he did last year. An early elimination from Madrid could drop him into the top 50 in the world rankings. .

If the Chilean passes the first round will have to face the Canadian Felix Auger Aliassime (10th) whom he beat in Monte-Carlo last year, during the last meeting between the two.

Tabilo, meanwhile, arrives in Spain to compete in the Masters 1000 qualifiers. A chance he gets by entering as a substitute and the same day he falls in the quarter-finals of the ATP in Munich. Of course, he faces a very complicated panorama.

With less than 24 hours of rest, he will play the first round of the playoffs against Marcos Giron, an American tennis player who has lost seven first rounds in a row. If he wins there, he will most likely face David Goffin, former world number seven and champion in Marrakech earlier this month.

Nadal and Djokovic in the draw

The main draw of the Mutua Madrid Open brings together the best in the world, with two players in the main spotlight: Rafael Nadal (4th) and Novak Djokovic (1st).

The Spaniard awaits a rival in the duel between Alexander Bublik (32nd) and Miomir Keckmanovic (38th) , since he is one of the pre-classified in the competition. Nadal will return to the circuit after a month-long hiatus due to a rib injury it is therefore unclear what level he can show in the tournament he has won five times.

Djokovic, meanwhile, arrives in Madrid as world number one and eager to to improve your image after the Monte Carlo and Belgrade tournaments. In the second round awaits the winner of the match between Carlos Gimeno (369th) and Gael Monfils (21st) .
