Donald Trump has added two more trophies to his golf collection after winning both the club championship and senior championship at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey last weekend, but new details from a fellow competitor have raised fresh questions about his reported score.
Trump, 80, carded what was described as an improbably low two-under-par score of 70, taking his reported tally of victories across his various golf properties to more than 40.
Scorecard doubts emerge
Footage of the scoreboard after the competition concluded was posted to Instagram on Tuesday by another competitor, Philip Zamloot. It showed that Zamloot and Trump had recorded the same net score of 70. In golf, a player's net score is calculated by subtracting their handicap from their total number of strokes.
But the same footage showed Trump had also carded a gross score of 70, identical to his net score. That would mean Trump was playing to a handicap of zero, a level reached by only a small number of highly skilled golfers, adding a fresh layer of doubt to the victory.
Zamloot wrote over the video: "70 net scores... Trump and Zamloot... true grit... true winners." He captioned the post: "President Trump and myself both had net scores of 70 at the senior club championships on Saturday. Proud to be on the same leaderboard and same net score as the president of the greatest country in the world."
Trump celebrates the win
Social media footage showed Trump receiving a round of applause in front of the club leaderboard following the round, with a caption confirming he had collected two trophies for his performance.
The par at Bedminster is set at 72, meaning Trump's reported score of 70 would have put him two strokes under par to secure the double win.
Trump shared footage of his own moment from the tournament, writing on social media: "The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to all of those who participated."
"I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I'm given very little time to practice, because I'm focused on many other things," he wrote. "It's called TALENT, and I have it, and they don't!"
Lawyer and commentator Ron Filipkowski, known for tracking Trump-related social media posts, wrote on X that Trump had allegedly just won his 43rd club championship at one of his courses.
A history of scrutiny
The reported 70 comes a year after the White House published a scorecard claiming Trump had carded a three-under 69 at the same annual tournament in 2025, winning by 10 gross strokes.
Trump's golf record has repeatedly drawn skepticism from critics and sports journalists. Rick Reilly, a sportswriter who authored a book on Trump's golf habits, has previously questioned the legitimacy of his club championship wins, once saying: "When it comes to cheating, he's an 11 on a scale of one to 10."
