Ukrainian Boxing Federation Protests World Boxing Decision

The Ukrainian Boxing Federation has officially protested a decision by World Boxing to allow Russian athletes to return to international competition under national symbols. The statement was published on the local federation's website.

The Ukrainian Boxing Federation stated that it does not support the decision of World Boxing to reinstate Russian athletes for international tournaments with their national symbols. The organization confirmed that an official protest has already been submitted.

World Boxing cleared Russian athletes on July 30 to compete in international tournaments under its auspices using their flag and anthem. The governing body is authorized to conduct Olympic boxing competitions.

Russian Boxing Status

The Russian Boxing Federation was admitted into World Boxing in March 2026. Russian athletes were initially cleared in late April to participate in international competitions under a neutral status.

World Boxing was established in 2023 as an alternative to the International Boxing Association. The president of the organization is Umar Kremlev, a member of the executive committee of the Russian Boxing Federation.
