Goalkeeper Vozinha is traveling to Chile to complete his transfer to Colo-Colo after days of uncertainty over the postponement of his trip to Santiago.
A standout for Cape Verde at the 2026 World Cup, Vozinha played for Desportivo de Chaves last season and had his flight rescheduled three times, according to international media reports.
Journalist Raphael Bozeo reported that Vozinha had in fact been holding parallel talks with Berkane, a club from Morocco.
The situation prompted questions, leading Colo-Colo director Jaime Pizarro to speak publicly. Pizarro downplayed the episode, saying the delays were due to personal matters and pending issues with the player's documentation.
Contract terms
With those issues resolved, Vozinha is now heading to Chile and is expected to be announced as a new Colo-Colo signing in the coming days. According to Chile's Radio ADN, he will earn 47 million Chilean pesos a month, roughly 254,000 reais at current exchange rates, on an 18-month contract.
World Cup performance
At the 2026 World Cup, Vozinha, 40, was one of Cape Verde's standout players, helping the team hold Spain and Argentina, both eventual finalists, to draws in regulation time. He has made 90 appearances for Cape Verde's national team and is considered one of the country's greatest players. His first name honors former Brazilian right-back Josimar Pereira, a standout for Brazil at the 1986 World Cup.
