The summer transfer window remains open until September 1, and clubs across England continue to work on deals. Here is a roundup of the latest developments.
Rushworth nears Coventry move
Coventry City are closing on a £22.5 million deal for Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, 25. Add ons will take the fee closer to £30 million, and the deal will include a sell on percentage. A medical is being scheduled for later this week. Rushworth had also attracted interest from Newcastle United.
Brentford chase Henderson replacement
Brentford are advancing in talks to sign Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare, 24, as a potential replacement for Jordan Henderson, who is set to join Chelsea on a free transfer. The move for the Mali international could be worth £40 million. Brentford have been talking to Lens for a couple of months but face competition from Crystal Palace, managed by Sangare's former coach Pierre Sage.
Brentford want two midfielders and are also weighing up a move for Tottenham's Pape Matar Sarr, 23, who has interest from Turkey but would be open to staying in London given his first team chances look set to be limited following Spurs' purchases of Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes.
Brentford also remain in talks over 18 year old Ousmane Diabete from Genclirbirligi, amid competition from Spurs, though he is regarded as one for the future.
Fulham continue Palacios talks
Fulham have held further talks over a deal for Real Madrid midfielder Cesar Palacios, 21, who made his senior debut in January. He is well known to Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa, his former club coach, who is also keen to bring Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia to London.
Arokodare passes Ajax medical
Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare, 25, has passed his medical with Ajax and completed the paperwork on a loan move. Ajax have the option to buy him for £17 million. The Dutch club will pay a £1 million loan fee, with add ons, if they reach the league phase of a European competition.
Man United open to offers for academy graduates
Manchester United are open to offers for Harry Amass, Dan Gore, Toby Collyer and Radek Vitek. Several clubs have already made enquiries for goalkeeper Vitek and left back Amass for loans and permanent deals, while Gore and Collyer could also go out on loan. The four will keep training with the first team until other squad members return from their World Cup break, though regular game time is more likely to come with United's Under 21s.
Stones set for Inter medical
Inter Milan expect John Stones to undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of a move to Italy. The 32 year old England international, a free agent after leaving Manchester City, and his representatives are finalising terms on a free transfer and a two year deal. Inter are also progressing in talks for Tottenham's Cristian Romero.
Separately, Chelsea's Benoit Badiashile and West Ham's Jean-Clair Todibo are on Napoli's list as the Serie A side work on signing a new centre back.
Phillips set for Sheffield United return
Kalvin Phillips, 30, is finalising a new loan move to Sheffield United after being left off Manchester City's squad list to tour Asia. Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is keen to re-sign him despite a difficult loan spell last season, in which Phillips made just three appearances and was sent off in his final game, the Steel City derby win over Sheffield Wednesday. Phillips joined City from Leeds United for £42 million and has two years left on his contract.
Sunderland target Methalie
Sunderland are continuing talks over a potential £26 million deal for Toulouse left back Dayann Methalie, the France Under 21 international who can also play centre back. He previously attracted interest from Newcastle United. Sunderland boss Regis Le Bris is hopeful of signing him on a five year contract, in what would be a record sale for Toulouse.
Forest in talks for Famalicao's Sa
Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign Portuguese attacking midfielder Gustavo Sa, 21, from Famalicao, where he was captain last season, scoring four goals and adding two assists in 34 appearances. Sa was a target for Saudi Arabian clubs earlier this year and for West Ham this summer, but Forest may sign him and send him on loan to Olympiacos.
Tomiyasu trains with Palace
Former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is training with Crystal Palace after his contract at Ajax expired. The 27 year old Japan international made just nine appearances at Ajax after a hamstring injury and is now a free agent, training with Palace in Como as part of pre-season preparations. He has also had interest from Venezia and Sassuolo. Palace are playing in the Como Cup, facing Lens, the former club of new manager Pierre Sage, before taking on Famalicao.
Newcastle await Arsenal bid for Bruno Guimaraes
Newcastle United say they have yet to receive a formal approach from Arsenal for midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, 28. Arsenal have been preparing an official offer worth more than £70 million for the Brazilian, who is keen to join, but Newcastle sources say any proposals so far have come via the player's agent. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said at the weekend he was unsure what would happen with Guimaraes' future.
Delap draws interest as Chelsea near Welbeck deal
Nottingham Forest remain among clubs showing interest in Chelsea striker Liam Delap, 22, whose opportunities are likely to shrink following Danny Welbeck's pending arrival from Brighton. Clubs are enquiring about the fee needed to sign the former Ipswich Town forward. Forest, Everton and Newcastle United are among those who have expressed interest in the former England Under 21 international.
Forest have also made an offer for Union Saint-Gilloise full back Anan Khalaili, while talks continue for Feyenoord's Givairo Read. Both players are also of interest to Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
Jorgensen departs Chelsea camp for Strasbourg
Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has left the club's camp in Australia ahead of a move to sister club Strasbourg. The 24 year old Denmark international made 12 appearances for Chelsea last season and wants regular first team football.
Ajax want Alvarez back from West Ham
Ajax are trying to re-sign West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez, 28, having sold him to West Ham for £35 million in 2023. West Ham want around £12.5 million, though Ajax sources say they are still owed money from the structure of the original transfer. Alvarez has spoken to Ajax director Jordi Cruyff, spent last season on loan at Fenerbahce and was part of Mexico's World Cup squad. Real Sociedad are also interested but are proposing a smaller, structured deal.
O'Reilly in talks over Notts County loan
Aston Villa winger Tommi O'Reilly, 22, is in talks to join League One club Notts County on loan. He had been set to sign for Sheffield Wednesday, but Villa decided Meadow Lane would suit his development better. O'Reilly had a strong campaign on loan at Crewe last season, and Villa hope he can replicate that form under Notts County coach Martin Paterson. Notts County also signed Australian forward Luka Smyth from Finnish side VPS on a three year deal for an undisclosed fee.
Perri lined up for Torino move
Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri is expected to join Torino on loan with an option to buy, once a deal for Manchester City's James Trafford is completed. Trafford, 23, is set to sign a deal worth around £130,000 a week once City and Leeds finalise an expected £40 million transfer including £5 million in add ons and a sell-on clause. Leeds goalkeepers Karl Darlow and Illan Meslier have already left Daniel Farke's squad this summer, joining Manchester United and Arsenal respectively. Leeds would still like another goalkeeper as cover, as well as strengthening at left back, attacking midfield and striker.
