Wisla Plock name Piotr Burlikowski as sporting director

Polish club Wisla Plock have appointed Piotr Burlikowski as their new sporting director following the departure of Lukasz Stupka.

The management change came at the start of November with Wisla Plock sitting 12th in the Ekstraklasa table. Club officials moved quickly to secure Burlikowski after reaching an agreement to terminate Stupka's contract by mutual consent.

Wisla Plock confirmed in an official statement that Stupka formally took office on July 13, 2026. The club stated that his departure does not affect the operations of the sporting department and has not disrupted preparations for upcoming league matches.

Short tenure for Stupka

Stupka's time in the role lasted only a few months. He arrived in July to succeed Radoslaw Kucharski, who left to join fellow Polish top-flight side Jagiellonia Bialystok. The decision to part ways with Stupka was reportedly made at the beginning of October.

Wisla Plock compete in the Ekstraklasa, the top tier of Polish professional football. Based in the central Polish city of Plock, the club contest the league alongside teams such as Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Experience across Polish football

Burlikowski brings extensive sporting administration experience to Wisla Plock. He previously worked as sporting director at Zaglebie Lubin, served as an adviser on sports affairs at the Polish Football Association, and directed the sports division at Widzew Lodz.

Speaking to the official Wisla Plock website, the new sporting director thanked the board of directors for the trust they placed in him. He said he was glad to become part of the project and was getting to work immediately.

Under his new remit, Burlikowski will oversee the entire sporting structure of the club. His responsibilities cover the first team, the reserve squad, and the youth academy.

The Polish Football Association, known as the PZPN, governs association football across Poland. In the domestic league system, a sporting director manages recruitment, squad planning, and development pathways from the academy to senior football.
