Bayern Munich came from behind to beat SV Elversberg 2-1 on Sunday, handing the newly promoted club their first defeat of the Bundesliga season and moving the two-time reigning champions up to fourth place in the table.
Playing away from home, Bayern fell behind... no, Bayern took the lead through a goal from young forward Lennart Karl in the 26th minute. Elversberg, playing in front of their own supporters, drew level in the 61st minute through Maurice Krattenmacher.
England international Harry Kane then scored the winning goal for the Bavarians in the 72nd minute. Kane, who joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur, has become the club's leading striker in recent seasons.
The result marked a return to winning form for Bayern after they were held to a draw in the previous round, while Elversberg suffered their first setback of the campaign following two wins to open the season.
Bayern climb into fourth place
The victory took Bayern Munich to seven points from three matches, level with third-placed Augsburg. Both clubs sit two points behind Freiburg and Borussia Dortmund, who have won all three of their opening fixtures.
Elversberg dropped to sixth place with six points, the same tally as fifth-placed RB Leipzig, who were among Sunday's other big winners.
Leipzig thrash Hamburg 5-0
RB Leipzig routed Hamburger SV 5-0 at home. Tidiam Gomis opened the scoring in the 17th minute, before Antonio Nusa doubled the lead in the 28th. Willi Orban, Christopher Nkunku and Rômulo added further goals in the 72nd, 74th and 77th minutes respectively.
Nkunku, a France international, came through Leipzig's youth academy before spells at Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, and has since returned to the club.
Hamburg fielded Portuguese goalkeeper Daniel Fernandes as a starter, with midfielder Fábio Vieira introduced as a substitute. The newly promoted club remain without a point and without a goal scored after three straight defeats to open their Bundesliga campaign.
