Deportivo Garcilaso striker Beto Da Silva was omitted from the Peru national football team squad for upcoming friendly matches in the United States despite recently completing administrative paperwork with federation officials in Lima.
Peruvian Football Federation general director of football Jean Ferrari addressed the player's absence prior to departing for American territory with the national delegation. He explained that administrative procedures are routinely carried out as a preventative measure for players who might be considered by head coach Mano Menezes and his technical staff.
The presence of Da Silva in Lima had sparked speculation among supporters after the forward was seen completing paperwork at the headquarters of the Peruvian Football Federation. Da Silva has been one of the standout performers for Deportivo Garcilaso during their recent domestic campaign, prompting questions when his name did not appear on the final squad list.
Speaking to media outlet Inka Digital TV, Ferrari clarified that requesting players to complete documentation in the capital is a standard operational procedure. He emphasized that bringing players to Lima to complete paperwork does not guarantee that they will be included in the final matchday squad, but ensures that all administrative requirements are satisfied in advance.
Ferrari dismissed criticism regarding the handling of player administrative filings, stating that commentators and media figures often attempt to generate controversy where none exists. He stressed that the federation carries out these procedures strictly to ensure that players are eligible and ready for selection whenever the coaching staff requires them.
To illustrate the necessity of the practice, Ferrari referenced the recent injury suffered by player Gruber. Following that injury, the coaching staff moved to call up defender Alfonso Barco, also known as Fonchi Barco. Ferrari noted that had Barco not already possessed completed and compliant documentation, the coaching staff would have been unable to call him into the squad as an emergency replacement.

The Peruvian Football Federation, known by its Spanish initials FPF, serves as the governing body for association football in Peru. Based in Lima, the organization oversees the national team programs across all age groups as well as the administration of top-tier domestic competitions.

Da Silva currently plays as a forward for Deportivo Garcilaso, a professional football club based in the high-altitude city of Cusco in southern Peru. The club competes in Liga 1, the top division of the Peruvian football league system organized by the FPF.

Head coach Mano Menezes selected a 26-man squad for the upcoming trip to the United States, calling up players across four tactical positions. The goalkeeper selection features experienced international Pedro Gallese alongside Matias Cordova and Diego Romero.
The defensive corps includes Oliver Sonne, Marcos Lopez, Alfonso Barco, Cesar Inga, Miguel Araujo, Renzo Garces, Erick Noriega, Marco Huaman and Matias Zegarra.
In midfield, Menezes called up Andre Carrillo, Jairo Concha, Jairo Velez, Jesus Pretell, Osling Mora, Rodrigo Vilca, Wilder Cartagena and Yoshimar Yotun.
The forward line features six players selected to lead the attack: Adrian Ugarriza, Alex Valera, Bassco Soyer, Gianluca Lapadula, Jhonny Vidales and Piero Magallanes.
