Universitario de Deportes remained top of the Torneo Clausura in Peru's Liga 1 after the ninth round of matches, with closest challenger Deportivo Garcilaso held to a 1-0 defeat away at Sport Boys. Alianza Lima, meanwhile, suffered an agonizing 2-1 loss to Universitario itself in the Lima derby.
Sporting Cristal collected three valuable points on the road, beating CD Moquegua 2-1. Deportivo Garcilaso's failure to score against Carlos Desio's Sport Boys side allowed Universitario to hold on to first place in the Clausura table.
Peru's Liga 1 season is split into two tournaments, the Torneo Apertura and the Torneo Clausura, each with its own standings and champion. A separate Acumulado, or aggregate table, combines results from both tournaments across the season and is used to determine relegation.

Four clubs docked points in aggregate table
Liga 1 confirmed in the past hours that it had deducted points from four clubs in the season-long Acumulado table: Sport Boys, UTC de Cajamarca, ADT de Tarma and FC Cajamarca. UTC was docked 10 points, Sport Boys 4 points, FC Cajamarca 2 points and ADT 1 point.
Those sanctions are reflected in the Acumulado standings, where Alianza Lima leads despite its Clausura defeat to Universitario:
