The WBA Super light heavyweight champion does not rule out that the Ukrainian will return to the first heavyweight
WBA Super Light Heavyweight World Champion Dmitry Bivol does not exclude that in the future he can fight with the WBA / WBO / IBF / IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk. This requires, at a minimum, that the Ukrainian moved one division lower.
“Moving up to heavyweight? I’m not a heavyweight. You know, between heavyweight and light heavyweight there is also the first heavyweight. Do you remember this? This is a big jump. You want me to fight Anthony Joshua? No.
“Usyk said that he could go down to the first heavy weight? Maybe one day we’ll fight. I dont know. Maybe I’ll gain weight and feel great. Why not?”
On Sunday night, Bivol confidently defeated the Mexican Gilberto Ramirez and defended his title. The victory was awarded by unanimous decision of the judges: 118-110, 117-111, 117-111.
Usyk defeated Anthony Joshua in August. The Ukrainian plans to fight with WBC belt holder Tyson Fury for the title of undisputed heavyweight champion.
Fury and Usyk’s sides are still in talks for a duel. The fight between the Ukrainian and the British may take place in March 2023 in Saudi Arabia.
