The Leninsky District Court of Makhachkala arrested a man suspected of the murder of mixed martial arts fighter Magomedrasul Mutaev, reports the press service of the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the RF for the Republic of Dagestan.
The incident occurred in Makhachkala on the evening of January 31. An unknown person fired several shots at 21-year-old Mutaev, who died on the way to the hospital. Investigators have opened criminal proceedings for murder and illegal arms trafficking. According to media reports, the crime was committed by an 18-year-old man. On Saturday, the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Dagestan announced the detention of a suspect.
“At the request of the investigation, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention against an 18-year-old local resident,” the report states.
Mutaev was engaged in freestyle wrestling and on November 10, 2023, he made his MMA debut at the AMC Fight Nights tournament in Moscow. The athlete trained at the school of Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the father of former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
