Bivol could move down one weight class to try and become the undisputed champion
Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that a rematch between the undisputed world champion in super middleweight Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol available. According to him, both boxers are interested in this.
“We need to see if Bivol can handle ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, but I think Canelo will always think about whether he can avenge the last loss.”
“I don’t think Alvarez’s goal is to get back into the 175-pound division and win belts. On the one hand, he wants Zurdo to beat Bivol for Mexico, but he also wants Bivol to win for a chance at a rematch.”
“Don’t rule out Bivol dropping to 168 pounds to fight for the overall title because he wants that too. We should wait for November 5 in Abu Dhabi.”
Saul Alvarez defeated Kazakh boxer Gennady Golovkin by unanimous decision in his last fight and defended his titles. Canelo is not going to force a return to the ring as he needs wrist surgery.
In May, Bivol won the first fight with Canelo. In the contract of their duel, a revenge clause was spelled out.
Dmitry will defend his WBA title on November 5 against Gilberto Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs), who represents Mexico. The fight will take place in Abu Dhabi at the Etihad Arena and will be broadcast on the DAZN streaming service.
