England's Charley Hull shot a course-record 62 at the Centurion Club to move into second place at the PIF London Championship. The five-time Ladies European Tour winner recovered from an opening-round 74 to reach 10 under par at the halfway stage in Hertfordshire.
Hull's bogey-free round of 11 under par broke the previous course record set by compatriot Georgia Hall in 2021. The performance also matched the lowest round in Ladies European Tour history, putting Hull alongside Haeran Ryu, Jessica Korda, Alison Lee, and Karrie Webb in the record books.
Canada's Anna Huang leads the tournament by one stroke at 11 under par following a second-round 68. The 17-year-old three-time LET winner had led overnight and kept her spot at the top of the leaderboard.
Hull's record-breaking round
Hull started her second day with an eagle on the first hole. She then scored three consecutive birdies on holes four, five, and six, followed by another birdie on the ninth hole to reach six under par at the turn.
She added further birdies on the 10th, 13th, 15th, and 17th holes. Hull capped her round with a final birdie on the 18th hole to seal her 11-under-par score and take solo second place.
"It was really good, I shot 11 under and I actually left a couple of shots out there coming in. I know that sounds pretty crazy but it was a fun day," Hull said.
Injuries and fatigue
Hull said after her round that she has been struggling with physical fatigue and ongoing injuries. She entered the event after competing in the AIG Women's Open the previous week.
"I have been so tired this week, exhausted from the last couple of weeks especially after the AIG Women's Open last week," Hull said.
"I feel pretty tired and my body is in bits. I have got a few ongoing injuries, so I've been having a lot of physio. I'm quite shocked that I've shot 11 under today because I felt so tired this morning," she added.
"It felt like the easiest 11 under of my life. I'm standing here right now feeling like I left a couple of shots out there and I want to go and see if I can improve it tomorrow [Saturday]."
Huang holds the lead
Overnight leader Huang produced a round of 68 to stay ahead of the field. Her scorecard featured two eagles, at the ninth and 18th holes, along with four birdies and three bogeys.
Wales' Lydia Hall occupies outright third place on eight under par after carding a 67. Her round included a chip-in eagle, seven birdies, one bogey, and one double bogey.
Championship leaderboard
Australia's Kelsey Bennett and Ireland's Aine Donegan share fourth place on seven under par. Bennett followed her opening 68 with a second-round 71 that included three birdies and one bogey.
Singapore's Shannon Tan, Anne Van Dam of the Netherlands, and England's Alice Hewson are tied for sixth place on six under par. Austria's Emma Spitz and Spain's Luna Sobron Galmes round out the top 10 in a tie for ninth place on five under par.
