Daniel Ray Leonard, 25, was arrested on Wednesday morning at the Los Angeles home of his father, boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard, according to TMZ. He left the property in the back of a police car after allegedly violating a restraining order.
The report alleges that Daniel tried to enter the residence by turning exterior door handles, but it is not clear whether he gained entrance to the home. When police arrived, sources told TMZ that Daniel was located near the pool house and promptly arrested.
Sugar Ray Leonard is believed to still reside at the $46.5 million estate in the exclusive Upper Riviera area of Pacific Palisades, California. The property has been listed for sale multiple times over the past few years, but it has not sold.
Daniel is the youngest son of Sugar Ray and his second wife, Bernadette Robi, and his fourth son overall. Sugar Ray, now 70, had his first son, Ray Jr., with his first wife, Juanita Wilkinson, in 1973, before having a daughter, Camille, with Bernadette. The couple went on to have two more sons, Jarrel and Daniel, though their family life has remained private despite the boxer's fame and fortune.
The relationship between Sugar Ray and his son Daniel remains unclear, but the pair have been pictured together on multiple occasions in recent years. They were photographed together as recently as the summer of 2025 alongside former basketball star Magic Johnson.

In February 2025, Daniel's mother, Bernadette, posted a photograph on Instagram showing Sugar Ray and Daniel standing together on a beach with Sugar Ray's arm around his son's shoulder. She captioned the image: "Happy Valentine’s to my hearts!!! Love you both beyond and we will get through this faze!"
In 2023, Sugar Ray posted a family selfie on Daniel's birthday, adding the caption: "So happy to be with my son Daniel this weekend! I am so proud of you!!! Happy Birthday!!!" Sugar Ray had a legendary boxing career throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, fighting 40 times with 36 total wins. He is an Olympic gold medalist who won world titles in five different weight classes, making him one of the greatest boxers of all time.
During the 1980s, Leonard was part of the legendary "Four Kings" group alongside Roberto Duran, Thomas Hearns, and Marvin Hagler. All four fought each other, but Leonard was the only boxer to defeat all three of his rivals.
In 2016, Leonard was voted the greatest living boxer by The Ring magazine. He remains a familiar television personality, having competed on Dancing With The Stars and appeared on multiple episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians as the godfather of Khloe Kardashian.
Daniel's arrest occurred just hours before the Leonard family was scheduled to appear at the "Big Fighters Big Cause" event to raise money for the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation. Bernadette had posted photos and videos to her Instagram Stories showing the event being set up at the Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey, California.
