Russian swimmer Ekaterina Sorokina compared the Seine to the Kama River in Perm after competing in the 10-kilometer open water race at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris, Match TV reported.
Sorokina assessed the condition of the water in the Seine following her 10-kilometer race, explaining that the river was much cleaner than people had told her. She said that the Seine simply looked like the Kama River in Perm and noted that water lilies even float in the water.
The athlete also spoke about the intense physical contact during open water swims, describing fights in the water as terrible. She added that all the swimmers emerge from the water covered in bruises.

Sorokina finished in sixth place in the 10-kilometer open water event, where Italian swimmer Ginevra Taddeucci won the gold medal. In the 3-kilometer race, the Russian athlete recorded the fifth fastest time at 6 minutes 52.2 seconds, while German swimmer Isabel Marie Gose took first place.
Earlier, Russian swimmer Vladimir Muratov also commented on the quality of the water in the Seine. Muratov described it as ordinary fresh water without any taste, saying it was similar to water from a tap.
