Haney: Lomachenko may be a master for Arum, but he is not a master for me

Lomachenko-Haney fight could take place in the first half of 2023

Undisputed World Lightweight Champion Devin Haney appreciated his opponent in the upcoming fight – ex-world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.

Lomachenko was definitely a lot smaller than I thought, but a lot of people say he’s not a true lightweight. He is a small guy. The lightweight division isn’t really his class, but he’s already won at that weight. Who was his first fight at 135 pounds? I think it was Campbell.”

“He has been in this weight class for a long time. So whether people say he’s small for that weight or not, he’s had time to settle in. He may be a master for Bob Arum, but he is not a master for me.”

“He is a fighter just like me. He is the same person as me. But I will show that he is not the master in the ring, but I.”

Top Rank head Bob Arum has confirmed that Haney’s next fight will be against Lomachenko. Earlier, Arum told when and where this fight could take place.

Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz in his last fight. For the Ukrainian, this was the first fight in the last 10 months.

In October, Haney defeated George Kambosos again and retained the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles. Devin has repeatedly stated his readiness to face Lomachenko in the ring.
