Lomachenko’s fee for the fight with Haney could be at least $5 million. The match was commercially successful.

According to insiders, about 150,000 paid broadcasts of the Lomachenko-Haney fight were sold.

As we expected, former three-division world champion Vasily Lomachenko will earn a record fee for the fight for the undisputed world lightweight title with WBA/WBC/WBO/IBF belt holder Devin Haney. The fight itself became a commercial success.

According to well-known boxing expert and insider Dan Raffael, the Lomachenko-Haney fight attracted 150,000 paid broadcasts. Considering that the cost of one was $60, PPV broadcasts brought about $9 million to the organizers of the fight. Each boxer will receive a part of this amount.

It is not yet known in what proportion the money from the sold broadcasts will be distributed, but even if Lomachenko’s share is 20% of the total amount, it will be about two million dollars. Given the Ukrainian’s $3 million guaranteed purse, Lomachenko’s total revenue from the fight with Haney could be at least $5 million.

At the same time, according to experts, the fight was successful for Top Rank. About 14.5 thousand tickets were sold for the Lomachenko-Haney fight. Recall that their cost ranged from 60 to 2000 dollars. According to experts, the amount from ticket sales amounted to a seven-figure figure, but not too much. In addition, advertising revenue, sales of broadcasts to foreign companies and sales of paraphernalia were not taken into account.

The fight between Lomachenko and Haney, which took place on the night of May 21 in Las Vegas, ended with the victory of the American. According to the results of 12 rounds, the judges gave the victory to the American boxer: 116:112, 115:113, 115:113. The sports community spoke about the unfair decision of the panel of judges. And the manager of the Ukrainian, Egis Klimas, said that Lomachenko’s team would file a protest against the judge’s verdict, and also called on the WBA / WBC / WBO / IBF to leave the status of a mandatory contender for the Ukrainian according to their versions, which should contribute to a rematch with Haney.

Lomachenko fought his 20th fight in the professional ring and suffered his third defeat in his career. Undefeated Haney won his 30th fight and defended the undisputed lightweight title of the world champion.
