RB will bring several promising new products to Barcelona – and expects to increase the speed…
Daniel Ricciardo: “Everyone brings new products to Barcelona, the battle could become even fiercer. Let’s see who brings what.
I’m looking forward to driving the fast final sector setup they changed last year. I know the track, but we haven’t tested there this year, so it should be fun.
I want to reach the qualifying final again and earn points in the race. I have been waiting for this for a long time, I would like to think that this is the start of my season, and from now on I will be able to show the same results as in Montreal and make progress. I look forward to continuing the European part of the season.”
Yuki Tsunoda: “The race in Montreal didn’t go the way I wanted, and the weekend was a bit bad overall, but we managed to solve the problem when the car behaved completely differently in practice and qualifying. This proved that the team can adapt: we persevered, returned to contention and made it to the qualifying final.
The race in Barcelona will be a tough test for the car, but the VCARB 01 has performed well on all circuits this season, so I’m not worried about the speed.
As for the circuit itself, the first and third sectors place completely different demands on the car; it is impossible to find a balance that works for both sectors, you have to make a compromise. It is important to understand how the car works on this track as quickly as possible during training, and then get the best out of it.
This is another circuit where overtaking is difficult, so qualifying is very important. In the last races I performed well in qualifying, perhaps this is due to the way I specially prepared during training, I have better control of my emotions, I have better control of myself. This improves my flying behavior and feedback, giving me extra confidence.”
