Aston Martin has a positive assessment of the result of the qualifying for the sprint on the Losail circuit. Fernando Alonso set the eleventh fastest time and expects to compete for points. His teammate Lance Stroll qualified fourteenth and complained about traffic during the final run.
Fernando Alonso (11th): “Qualifying for the sprint in Qatar went better for us than the previous one. We came out of the first part with a lot of confidence and I fell a little short of qualifying for the final.
Apparently the high-speed circuit and this temperature suit our car better. I hope we get the chance to fight for points in tomorrow’s sprint and Sunday’s race.”
Lance walk (14th): “It’s great to be back on track in Qatar. The first part of qualifying for the sprint went well, I was satisfied with my laps. However, on the last attempt in the second session I ended up in traffic, which didn’t help. I lost some time, which was precious with such minimal gaps.
Today the car had good speed, but I think it will be difficult to overtake in tomorrow’s sprint. But this weekend there will be many more events and opportunities to compete.”
