Legia Warsaw official Fredi Bobić has defended Danish striker Mileta Rajović after Polish experts and supporters criticized his performances and three million euro transfer fee. Scrutiny mounted after Legia beat Pogoń Szczecin 1 to 0, a match where VAR disallowed two Rajović goals and he missed a clear chance. Criticism continued following a 3 to 1 win against Zagłębie Lubin, adding to pressure from last season.
Polish experts said they admired commentators who could express how ineffective Rajović was, adding that he appeared perpetually surprised in the penalty box. They declared his form inexplicable and said they were running out of ideas to write about him.
Bobić defended the striker in WP SportoweFakty, saying daily training shows a different picture. He questioned why manager Marek Papszun keeps starting Rajović, noting the player works hard, retains self-belief, and is near turning his streak around.
Legia Warsaw Transfer Budget
Addressing the three million euro fee paid in summer 2025, Bobić stated three million euros is nothing in football. He said it was a Legia record but not an Ekstraklasa record, as other clubs spent more.
Bobić announced Legia will no longer be an open wallet. He said downsizing the squad earned Legia 20 million euros, but five years of snowballing expenses before 2025 brought no success.
Rajović has started every match this season. He could play Saturday evening, August 8, when Legia visits Korona Kielce in round three of the Ekstraklasa at 20:15.
